With the recent news that Mr Ram Vilas Paswan, Minister of Consumer Affairs, taking treatment in the UK, it is very clear that the central government does not consider its own doctors, hospitals and healthcare infrastructure capable enough to give quality services . No country will develop without a proper healthcare infrastructure and Indian public sector healthcare being very backward is now very obvious with most of its elected representatives seeking treatment elsewhere. How does the government expect a common man getting basic requirement like healthcare, if the elected representatives themselves do not consider it not worthy?
It should become mandatory for the elected representatives to seek all healthcare from the Government hospitals only. This will not only ensure that equality prevails between the elected representatives and the voters, but also ensure good healthcare facilities at the government hospitals and it will set a precedent for the private hospitals in the country to follow suit and raise the standards of overall healthcare in the country.
