Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh signed a memorandum of agreement to implement the Ken Betwa Link Project (KBLP), on 22nd March 2021 (World Water Day) the first project of the National Perspective Plan for interlinking of rivers.

This linking project aims to irrigate 635,000 hectares of farmland across six districts--in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, will be threat to 4,141 hectares of Panna Tiger Reserve.

 This is an environmental distaser because the project passes though critical tiger habitat of panna tiger reserve. A large area of the reserve will go underwater with the creation of a 100 square kilometre reservoir.About 60 to 70 per cent of the tiger habitat will end up being submerged and we will lose a huge chunk of forest.At a time when we are helping mother earth revive, we will end up losing 30 lakh to 40 lakh trees that will never be replaced.
