Hathras rape survivor is a 19-year-old rape survivor who succumbed to her injuries and died on 29th September 2020. She was a Dalit girl who was brutally gangraped on 14th September. According to multiple reports, she was tortured with her tongue cut and spine broken. She was allegedly raped by four upper-caste men in Hathras in Uttar Pradesh. These men tried to strangle her to death and left her fighting for her life. She was admitted to the hospital with severe bruises and injuries and succumbed to them in the hospital.

The family claimed that the woman’s body was taken away by the police in the middle of the night for final rites. The government became complicit in depriving her of every single human right, even in death. The laws are meant to punish the guilty and serve justice to people. But in this case, it has become a tool of criminals to abuse the law and the victim's family wanting justice. If this continues, it will not only torture the rape survivor's family stuck in this traumatic loop. However, it will also become a loophole for criminals to escape from punishment. A license to gang-rape, because they cannot be hanged separately and have unlimited mercy petitions to file, which they will file and keep raping the law and order! Rape is the more dangerous virus in our midst. It’s proven to be more pernicious than any other disease. The rape has sent a shocker across the country, with people questioning the role of media and why it woke up so late. Social media erupted with questions on why India’s daughters face this again and again.

We need to protect potential victims from rape. It is the need of the hour to take strict actions against such heinous crime. We need to revolt and protect ourselves from getting abused physically. We need to stop this rape culture in our country. Sexual harassment and violence against women are so normal in our society and we have been watching such news for years. But we can't take it anymore. We have been seeing such noticeable incidents of gang rapes in our country taking place in Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Northeast India, and almost everywhere. We need to stop this. Let their voice be ours. Let's make a change. Let's put every effort to demand justice for that young girl. Let the rapists be burnt alive. Let them be punished brutally. Let's join hands in making this difference. Let's take this initiative.
