Being a gamer myself, I’ve always considered Indian Esports scenario very much possible and succesful. There was a time not many years back when Esports even in the western markets was considered nothing more than a joke, but now look at it, big devlopers are pouring in on the prize pool with big boradacasting agnecies such as ESPN also appreciating the demand for it.Having said that for India to go through the same renaissance, we need resources, we need a proper Indian gaming marketplace and we need the big developers to start looking at India as a potential video game market. We all know that we India isn't short of gamers, most of us play games and we’ve seen and participated in a lot small gaming tournaments with some prize pool. Games such as NFS, FIFA and Counter strike have always been a favorite here, but have you noticed who are the people who usually organises these events? Its mostly the gaming hardware companies because they know they have a market here with people always looking out to buy new fancy hardware to play their favorite games. So why isn't the same sales translated to the software side of the market? Because its a niche hobby. Majority still prefer to pirate games in some form rather than shelling out some bucks on it. Hence, Indian gaming scenario never caught the big developers. To make e sports successful in India developers have to start taking India seriously so that they become eager enough to invest some money on establishing a proper e sports environment.Having said that there have been a lot of positive developments lately with major gaming distributors and sellers actually considering Indian gaming a potential market with steam and origin introducing INR support but its still a long long way to go.
