Homosexuality once again is illigal in India. The Parlament of India has the power to change that. We respectfully ask the goverment to do what is right. Human rights must be restored. Support the people of India who are directly affected by this horrific situation.
the power to change rests with you. In 2009 India’s decision to legalize homosexuality between consenting people of age, represented a breakthrough in equal rights. It liberated those who suffered the most under old colonial law. Once again India finds itself under the opression of a ghost from the past.
Allow us to remind you, that you as a member of parliament took an oath to do everything in your power to protect the wellbeing of your people. Even if a majority feels strongly about a subject, even if religious reasons do not allows them to support equal rights, a democratic government must still protect those who cannot protect themselves.
Equal rights are the basis of democray as is sexuality the basis of humanity.
Please change the law. Deniying millions of people the right to be who they are turns the largest democracy in the world into the largest prison in the world.
