Dear FRRO,

We, the "stuck" foreign nationals from the past two years of lockdown, are writing to request that you please consider your registration extension policies in light of the covid variant, Omicron. 

Although we are currently "overstaying" per your new regulations, many of us have no practical options for leaving during this time. Omicron is causing more and more border closures and restrictions each day. Travel for us is further complicated by the fact that India's regularly scheduled commercial flights have not yet resumed.

Please don't force us to travel internationally amidst a new worldwide wave of coronavirus. We are happy to be here right now and we will be happy to leave when travel and lockdown circumstances are less volatile.

Two years is a long time to be in another country. Most of us feel a sense of home and community here. We feel safe here and deeply appreciate your flexibility and compassion during these unprecedented circumstances. We are truly grateful for our time in India.
