CHRA Campaign for Human Rights for Afghanistan started this petition to Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan and

All people throughout Afghanistan face considerable risks in their daily lives, yet alone when partaking in an election. This September, on 28th, Afghanistan intend to hold a Presidential Election. The election was supposed to take place on 20th April but has been repeatedly pushed back until later this year, increasing the political  importance and pressure throughout the country on the election procedures on the day itself.

This petition hopes to raise awareness of the severity of the risk posed to the safety of the Afghan electorate during this election, and to encourage the government of Afghanistan to provide more security to voters. Historically, risks have included militant groups using tactics such as roadside bombs and suicide bombers to try to sabotage the election procedure.

By signing this petition we hope to confront the risk posed to civilians, to ensure that all is being done to prevent any harm being inflicted upon Afghans and also to ensure voters are able to peacefully fulfil their right to vote in a democratic election.
