Increasing visibility in the evenings at William Peek Park

Increasing visibility in the evenings at William Peek Park
Why this petition matters

Residents in the immediate area of William Peek Park, would kindly like to request for the city of Buena Park to help improve the visibility of the park in the evenings. By possibly installing more lamps, or even brighter ones. Especially on the northeast corner of the park on El Monte Drive. We believe this will highly increase the safety of the park and it’s surrounding neighborhood.
The park in the recent past has had multiple fights, thefts, hit and run, vehicles traveling three times the speed limit, side by side drag racing, and lastly but most concerning. A shooting.
We believe improvements with the lighting of the park, especially in the areas where it lacks lighting (North East side to be specific on El Monte Drive.). Would help improve the safety of William Peek Park. We strongly believe these dark low visibility areas give visitors more confidence on not being easily identified for any of their unlawful activities.
There are also concerns regarding the alleyway entrance to the Edison Greenbelt from “El Viento Way”, which gives clear path for a good “getaway” from using it from either direction. We believe adding an adequate sized gate shall help prevent this passageway from being used as future “escape route”; most importantly in the evenings.
So we’re seeking help from our fellow neighbors. Help us by signing this petition, requesting for action from the city to help improve the visibility and safety of our local park.
Thank you all for your time and support!
