Increase Training, and Regulation Policies for Police in Missouri.
Why this petition matters
People want change, and not all know how to express their outrage and frustration. I have decided to create a petition to help start the change internally. Something I noticed from the videos of police brutality, is the excessive unnecessary use of force, violence and destruction of the officers.
That made question police officer training and how they are taught to behave in certain scenario cases. It can take up 25 weeks to become an officer. But I had the chance to speak to a chief of police here in Missouri, and he stated it take 9 MONTHS to become a police officer! Why does it take someone 4 years or longer to obtain a college education? There should be a better way officers are trained to handle all types of situations even down to the ethical issues at hand, that’s why I suggest we analyze the training of police and try to seek better and proper ways police handle situations.
Should officers first instinct be to draw their guns on unarmed citizens? If a citizen is crying out for air, should we not address the unethical heartless act that was done? If those officers were trained more properly, ethically and mentally; maybe one of the officers would have stepped up and handled the situation differently.
We should all strive to live worry free, no one should have to feel scared of any officer who pulled them over because the color of their skin and the officer should not feel threatened by the citizens/victims they address because the color of their skin but rather how the situation is at hand. I feel like if we increase the rules, regulations and rights of officers, in how they address all types of situations, with more ethical and moral way of thinking in addition with the better training, we can start to be more comfortable in our forms of skins.
I want change for all people, I want everyone not to feel threatened and scared by police officers. Police are sworn in to serve and protect our community, not to kill and obstruct. Let’s make the change To help officers fulfill their duties by listening and understanding and complying. Also we need to the increase the training for mental and physical situations so those officers can think twice before pulling the trigger.
