UWM's American Sign Language Studies Program and Interpreter Training Program have many dedicated staff and students who rely on having a space to gather for work, study and socialization using American Sign Language. As it stands, our current space is extremely small. With only two tables, two work desks and four cubbies, it simply isn't enough room for multiple individuals or groups to come and work. These programs are all about socialization and interaction using American Sign Language and students could benefit tremendously by having a large enough space to gather and study. This petition is to showcase the many staff and students who are requesting a larger space be provided. Increasing the size of our ASL Lab would benefit current and future students for years to come.
