Increase inclusion and awareness of resources for LGBTQIA+ students of CSU
Why this petition matters
Colorado State University (CSU) has inclusive resources available for students to use while on campus. These resources are difficult to find out about, and don't provide a ton of support to the students themselves. This petition is going to the administration of CSU in attempts to change that. We are looking to make Pride resources more accessible and known to CSU students, allow LGBTQIA+ students to feel safe around campus with more protection for all students, and follow through on protection of students from / punishment for committing hate crimes.
Our objectives are as follows:
To redesign the Diversity, Inclusion, & Belonging module, to encourage students to take it, have it be required, and prevent it from being dissolved.
To get Visible Voices into classrooms entry level classes in a variety of departments starting in August.
Address the eleven demands by Ty Smith and specifically target demands like having an anonymous hotline for reporting hate crimes, updating the emergency text alert system to include hate crime updates.
To get 150 signatures on the petition to make the module required by May 10th.
