Increase heat for Ulladulla 25 mtr pool

Increase heat for Ulladulla 25 mtr pool
Why this petition matters
We request that Shoalhaven Council increase the temperature levels of the 25 metre pool to bring it to the same comfortable temperatures used in most Sydney indoor pools operated by councils.
Currently the heat level is not conducive to use this pool as its fairly cold when getting in unlike the warmer small therapeutic pool. One has to swim quite vigorously to make it more comfortable for those willing to face the initial discomfort. This means that a lot of the local community miss out or are inadvertently discouraged to use the pool to swim laps particularly in winter but also throughout the year.
Many parents of young children enrolled in swimming classes or those carers of people with a disabilty also face more resistance and complaints from their children who do not welcome getting in.
We have a very high ageing and young population with increasing concerns about health issues. It is now widely understood that the most cost effective strategy in relation to feelings of health, cognition and well-being relates to maintaining good levels of exercise.
Other councils in the sydney region cater for those more sensitive to heat or more vigorous swimmers such as those in swimming squads by heating the outside pool so that this could be set at a lower temperature than the warmer 25mtre pool.
We therefore think it would be a good investment that would be beneficial for a large portion of your local community to encourage more exercise and lap swimming especially in the colder months. Increased revenue from more pool usage would also help to offset the expenses faced by council in actioning this request.
Why can't we enjoy our local pool to the same extent as those living in the city and reduce our regional disadvantage !
