As a group of level 3 Social Studies students at Hamilton Girls' High School, we are planning a social action aiming to change government policy on child poverty in New Zealand and raise awareness on the issue. We are wanting a change in policy which enables every child in NZ to get a good start in their early years of life by ensuring that parents have all the resources that are needed, (eg. income, affordable housing, education, health.) We are wanting to influence the government to develop and implement a national strategy to ensure every child has their rights to health, education, safety and participation, which is linked to the rights of children.
