Increase Funding for Affordable Home Ownership Programs for Working Middle Class

Increase Funding for Affordable Home Ownership Programs for Working Middle Class
Why this petition matters
This issue is very personal because I am experiencing this problem first-hand. Although I am a part of the working middle class, I cannot afford to purchase a home in this market where the median home price has sky-rocketed to $500,000. The growing affordable housing crisis in South Florida is a result of the increased cost of housing prices due to the migration of work-from-home employees to our region during the COVID-19 pandemic, along with outside investors making cash purchases. South Florida has become one of the least affordable regions to live, thereby forcing not only the working-class families, but also millennials to relocate to more affordable places. I’m urging federal, state, and local governments to allocate more funding to affordable homeownership and down payment assistance programs geared towards the working class. I’m also recommending substantial legislative changes concerning the designated requirements for the development of affordable single-family homes.
