The Boundary Commission has recently published its proposed plans for the reviewed parliamentary boundaries. At present these are out for final consultation.

The plans propose moving Castle Bromwich and Smith's Wood wards into the Hodge Hill parliamentary constituency. Many local residents have expressed their concerns about this, centred around Castle Bromwich being intrinsically different to other wards making up the Hodge Hill constituency. It also means that they will end up with an MP they did not elect.

I have enjoyed representing Castle Bromwich as a ward Councillor, and am representing the views of local people. Although we cannot stop this move, we do not want to lose our unique identity. For that reason, I will be writing to the Boundary Commission to request that the name be changed to "Hodge Hill and Castle Bromwich".
