Souths Inala Rugby League need your support to petition the Brisbane City Council to allow our football team to return to the historical home of Souths Inala Rugby League at Azalea Street in Inala. The historical and spiritual home of Souths Inala resides on the unoccupied location at Azalea Street Inala.

The Souths Inala Rugby League Club have had an amazing start to the 2019 season, winning 5 out of 5 games but we are forced each week to play on opposition fields as we do not have a home field. This year’s side is very young with most of them under 25 years of age therefore our goal is to provide a place for our community to play rugby league for many years to come. Training turnout is outstanding with up to 30 players coming to the training for each session. Souths Inala have a long term plan to develop more teams and grades including a ladies team in the near future. In order to do this we need a home ground.

Souths Inala Rugby league began back in 1958 in Inala out of the Azalea Street field where they operated from there for many decades well into the 90s. There was a break in using this field but Inala Rugby League continued under various names and fields. The field at Azalea Street is seen as the home of Inala rugby league and it is with strong desire from the players and the community that we return to this important place for Inala Rugby league.

Souths Inala rugby league has produced many champions that went on to bigger and better things in the game. Souths Inala want to continue this legacy and provide a platform for our players to move on to the bigger opportunities in rugby league. For those who do not make it to the big time we want to provide a positive space for our young people to play sport and do positive activities. As we all know rugby league and sport provides the catalyst for improvements in life not just sport which is needed in our community where we have a high degree of social problems.
