Improve Safety on Forest Park Boulevard for TCU Students and Residents

The Issue

As a concerned member of the Fort Worth community, I am writing this petition to address the pressing issue of safety on Forest Park Boulevard, particularly for TCU students and residents. The current road conditions pose a significant threat to pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists alike. It is imperative that we take immediate action to improve safety measures in order to prevent further accidents and potential fatalities.

Personal Story:
This petition holds personal significance to my family as it directly affects my daughter, her roommates, and TCU students who frequently navigate Forest Park Boulevard. This year, a close friend of ours (Braeden Schimmel, TCU Junior) narrowly escaped a life-threatening accident when his driver's side car door was struck by a truck just moments before he exited the vehicle. Had that truck collided with his car seconds later, he could have been seriously injured or even killed.

Forest Park Boulevard has become notorious for its hazardous conditions due to inadequate parking arrangements and speeding issues. Therefore, we urge the relevant authorities to implement the following changes:

1. Convert Road into 1 Car Lane:
By transforming Forest Park Boulevard into ONE car lane down the center and wider side lanes dedicated solely for parking and biking purposes, we can significantly enhance safety levels for pedestrians and cyclists alike. This adjustment will provide ample space for individuals exiting their vehicles without fear of being struck by passing traffic.

2. Install Speed Bumps/Stop Signs:
To effectively reduce speeding along this stretch of road, it is crucial that speed bumps or stop signs be installed at regular intervals. These traffic calming measures will not only encourage drivers to adhere to speed limits but also ensure greater vigilance while navigating through residential areas.

Supporting Facts:
According to recent reports from local law enforcement agencies in Fort Worth:

- Forest Park Boulevard has witnessed an alarming increase in accidents over the past year.
- The absence of designated bike lanes has resulted in numerous collisions involving cyclists.
- Speeding has been identified as a significant contributing factor in a majority of accidents on this road.

We believe that by implementing the proposed changes, we can significantly improve safety conditions on Forest Park Boulevard and protect the lives of TCU students, residents, and all individuals who utilize this road.

We kindly request your support in signing this petition to urge the relevant authorities to take immediate action. Together, let's make Forest Park Boulevard a safer place for everyone in our community.

Thank you for your attention and support.
