Improve road crossing safety for children - Stanley Road, Ardrossan
Why this petition matters
Residents of Stanley Road and surrounding areas are campaigning and have approached Councillor Amanda Kerr for help.
As a consequence of continuous fast traffic between No2 and No16 Stanley Road in Ardrossan, residents are concerned that children are at great risk while crossing the road. This is a busy area for children and a steep gradient dip further along the street, presents a blind spot at the area specified, while promoting acceleration. Both drivers and those attempting to cross the road, particularly young children are fundamentally unsafe.
This is an area of Stanley Road, where children in particular cross, to go over to play in the park or access the local shop.
Constituents are campaigning for a form of action to be taken by North Ayrshire Council to address the dangerous and concerning situation imposed, by the means of installing a crossing point, flashing speed signs or by investing in humps, rumble strips or similar to reduce speed of vehicles.
Do we wait on a child fatality or work on providing a prevention?
