Improve Accessibility and Parking for Disabled Individuals in Orange, NSW

Improve Accessibility and Parking for Disabled Individuals in Orange, NSW
The issue
I am a resident of Orange, NSW who lives with Cerebral Palsy. Daily life is a struggle due to the lack of accessibility in our town. From parking spaces to pavements and sidewalks, the current infrastructure does not cater adequately to individuals with disabilities.
In Australia, approximately 18% of the population has some form of disability. This means that nearly one in five Australians face similar challenges every day (Australian Bureau of Statistics). In our town alone, this translates into thousands of people struggling with basic mobility.
Our local government needs to prioritize making public spaces more accessible. This includes creating more disabled parking spaces near key facilities such as shopping centres and public buildings. It also involves repairing and upgrading pavements and sidewalks so they are wheelchair-friendly.
The Disability Discrimination Act 1992 mandates equal access for all citizens regardless of their physical abilities (Commonwealth Consolidated Acts). Yet we find ourselves fighting for basic rights that should be guaranteed by law.
This petition seeks action from our local council to improve accessibility around Orange, NSW. We need your support to make this change happen - because everyone deserves equal access to their community.
Please sign this petition if you believe in creating a more inclusive environment for all residents in Orange, NSW.
