Imploring billionaires to help transform our global ecological and social crisis.

The people addressed in this petition are some of the top richest billionaires in the world who are capable of creating a global shift toward sustainability.

According to Oxfam, the 26 richest people in the world hold the same total wealth as the poorest 3.8 billion combined.

We are in an ecological and social crisis because of unregulated capitalism, where the pursuit of profit has exploited our finite planetary resources, and consequently the future of our children.

There are some major issues:

- By 2050, there may be more plastic in the ocean than fish.

- There are over 400 ocean dead zones due to fossil fuels, pesticides and climate change. Oceans produce half the world's oxygen.  It only takes one tanker spill to destroy a coast.

- By mid-century, half of all species may go extinct.

- Excess CO2 is disrupting the natural carbon cycle (excess of any substance will have an effect on a balanced system).

We need an immediate transition to renewable energy, and better waste management systems around the world.

Income and wealth inequality are also on the rise, as wages have stagnated for over 20 years now.

The system is not serving 'the people', when they work 40+ hours per week and still cannot afford the basics.

A civilized government will take care of 'the people', ensuring the poorest and most vulnerable have basic necessities like housing (which studies show actually saves money in the end).  Many homeless people are suffering with mental illness.

Poverty causes an increase in healthcare costs, crime, violence and social issues.

Governments make funding cuts to the poorest and most vulnerable, while allowing the ultra-rich to use tax havens and loopholes to avoid supporting their country (that their businesses rely on for public services).

There are currently one billion children living in poverty around the world.

The world needs the 2,100+ billionaires to come together to save civilization and our precious ecosystem - let this be how they are remembered by future generations.
