Implement strict no-bail policy for sexual assault of minors and elderly

The Issue

I believe in the utmost protection for our vulnerable loved ones, the minors and elderly, who deserve to live without the fear of sexual violence. The anguish and long-term repercussions faced by victims of sexual assault demand justice that is not only swift but appropriately severe. We must ensure that those who prey on individuals under the age of 18 and those 60 years and older face significant consequences that reflect the gravity of their crime.

Sexual assault is a heinous crime, but when it involves our most vulnerable—our children and our elders—it becomes even more reprehensible. Far too often, offenders are granted bail, allowing them the opportunity to evade justice or, worse, victimize others. Therefore, offenses against these age groups should be met with a minimum sentence of 15 years, with the potential for life imprisonment, and absolutely no option for bail.

Statistics show an alarming number of sexual assaults occur daily, with children and the elderly being disproportionately affected. According to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network), every 68 seconds an American is sexually assaulted, and every 9 minutes, that victim is a child. The elderly are equally vulnerable, often unable to defend themselves or seek help. This cycle of violence must be broken, and stricter laws are a crucial step in that direction.

Introducing a no-bail policy with severe sentencing for such despicable actions would not only deliver justice but would also serve as a strong deterrent against future crimes. Toughening the legal repercussions for assailants signifies a powerful stance—that society will not tolerate these atrocities under any circumstances.

By signing this petition, you're advocating for the safety of our children and seniors, demanding that the justice system shields them effectively by holding perpetrators fully accountable and preventing any opportunity for reoffense. Join us in urging lawmakers to amend current laws to reflect the severity of these crimes and prioritize the safety and dignity of all citizens. Please sign and share this petition to take a stand for those who need it most.
