To foster the growth and enjoyment of the Canadian Quizbowl community, it is essential that both new and regular players enjoy a fun and comfortable environment, and that each player has a fair chance to succeed and improve. In recent years, a small number of older Quizbowl players (i.e., above the age of 30) have made the game less enjoyable and in some cases uncomfortable for the rest of the community. Some of these players started playing Quizbowl when current first year undergraduate students were infants or toddlers.

To make the game fun for full time University students, this petition seeks the implementation of an age limit for University Quizbowl somewhere around the age of 29. This age limit would be in addition to the current rule that players must be enrolled in University to participate in Quizbowl events. This age limit would not apply to Open tournaments (age limit at the discretion of tournament organizers), and older players who still wish to play are encouraged to organize their own formal and informal events with other older players.
