It is most likely that Lithium Extraction will begin at the Salton Sea within the next several years with the first Lithium Extraction Plant scheduled for 2024 and contracts already  approved with several car manufacturers. As a result of this Lithium Extraction and the profits that will be made with the assistance of the assets derived from available lithium originating at the Salton Sea, it is the social and moral obligation of the Lithium Mine Extractors  to donate 5% of their NET PROFITS to Salton Sea Restoration by including such provision in any contacts approved by Imperial County with Lithium Mine Extractors at the Salton Sea.
This Petition is created to instruct the Imperial  County Board of Supervisors to oversee any contracts negotiated between Imperial County and the Lithium Extraction Miners, to contain the provision that 5% of NET PROFITS obtained by the Lithium Extraction Miners be allocated to Salton Sea Restoration through a “Specific Fund” created by the Imperial County Board of Supervisors for Salton Sea Restoration.
