With the rising interest in Mental Health in the UK and within the college, I wanted to highlight an important factor in student mental health: sleep. 

Sleep has many benefits, including:

  • increased productivity 
  • improved memory
  • improved attention span 
  • improved health and quality of life 
  • lower stress
  • improved mood

Some universities such as the University of Manchester and the University of East Anglia have successfully implemented areas on campus for students to unwind during breaks. This is massively beneficial due to the often busy and demanding lives students lead.

I have created this petition to implore the college to implement something similar on campus. With the new White City campus being built, many welfare officers are asking that the old Chemistry building be used to expand counselling services. I agree wholeheartedly with this and ask for one addition: a place where we can rest our weary heads. As this is just across from the library, it is an ideal location.
