No one knows when and where you will meet the person you will fall in love with and spend your whole life with. It should be the most natural and easiest thing to do, however, we are now very sadly living at a time that unless you fall in love with someone in the EU or UK, it can become a heartbreaking and costly nightmare. My brother met his Chinese wife (Maggie) three years ago whilst he was working overseas. Maggie was his translator whilst he was working on a project in China. The relationship blossomed and on her last visit to the UK my brother proposed on New Years Eve. Our family were absolutely delighted as she is such a wonderful person and they are clearly very much in love with each other. Maggie is very much a part of our family and has a wonderful relationship with my two children and my parents. My mum and dad went to their wedding last October which was held in China and spent the weeks there getting to know Maggies mum and dad. Maggie speaks fluent English. Maggie is now 6 months pregnant and my brother has spent months on visa applications at great expense so that she may live as a family with my brother in his home town. The application for the spouse visa was applied for in the correct manner, whilst Maggie was living in China. They wanted to do this correctly so that there wasn't any doubt that her visa would be declined, especially with Maggie now being 6 months pregnant. We recently heard the devastating news that the visa had been declined and are at a total loss as to why? Maggie has never applied for any visa except holiday visas to visit Ian and us during their relationship. They are legally married and the marriage has been registered in the UK. My brother is financially stable and is able to support Maggie in his own home in the UK - they will not be wanting to claim for benefits. Time is really of the essence now and we urgently need help to change this decision so that she may be with my brother for Christmas. If we wait for the appeal it will be too late for her to travel with being heavily pregnant. My brother and Maggie are quite understandably distraught by the decision to decline her spouse visa, as are his family and friends. PLEASE will you help Maggie and Ian be reunited before their first child is born and sign our petition? We cannot state enough the urgency in which we need this decision overturned. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and once again, please can you sign this petition and also make others aware of my brother and sister in law's plight - we need to spread the word and get as many signatures as possible to make the immigration department aware of this terrible and unjust situation.

Kind regards Emma Harcombe - on behalf of Ian and Maggie and Family
