Why this petition matters

Canada is the most immigrant-friendly country, the reason thousands of people from all over the world file their applications in luck to be accepted and be given a chance to become a citizen of this beautiful nation thereby investing in its economy and growth. Canada boasts its streamlined manner for processing all the applications received in an immaculate and orderly fashion. Hundreds of students every year apply for a work permit after graduating from a Canadian college/ university followed by a temporary resident visa (TRV), a stamp on their passport which acts as their only proof for legally moving in and out of the country, but a substantial delay has been noticed in the processing of countless TRV applications. The unforeseeable COVID 19 staggered the government officials, pushing back the timelines drastically but seven months of the year 2021 have passed by yet so many are stuck abroad without visiting their homelands even those who applied since January 2021.

Meanwhile, the new graduates are stuck here alone, with no close kin and family around. Being in a new country and working day in and day out without any hope or timeline of seeing the faces of their loved ones is acting negatively on their overall well-being. The stress has climbed roof-top impacting their mental health severely; falling prey to anxiety, early stages of depression, emotional disorders, etc., making them unable to cope with their work, relationships, and other demands. The main reason why many students flocked here – to work has hit rock bottom, the quality of work they output has been dwindling slowly due to this issue.
The lag in the processing of TRV applications is an unfortunate incident as no concrete updates are being provided, only the processing time grows manifold every time you visit the IRCC page. Innumerable students filed a web form because their loved ones fell prey to the monstrous Coronavirus, many lost their family or had an urgency to visit back home yet the webform which promises to expedite the process in case of an emergency has proved to be futile.

90% of the stuck work permit holders are fully vaccinated and according to the new rules by the Canadian government such people are eligible to fly yet they are unable to as they can fly from Canada but can not return. With each passing day, the validity of their work permit is weaning and it wouldn’t be unrealistic to say when they’ll be in possession of their TRV, the work permit might’ve expired and this vicious cycle of applying and waiting would never stop.
