Mañana Today started this petition to Immigration New Zealand and

COVID-19 has separated loved ones and families. It is a huge burden loaded on top of an already precarious life we have been thrown into. We need our partner's support in these testing times.

Immigration New Zealand: Let's people's partners and loved ones in!

One of the many heartfelt struggles includes this one (names changed to protect identity):

Due to celebrate their third wedding Anniversary in Aotearoa during COVID-19, Samantha has been separated from her husband James for five months now. He left to the USA in February 2020 to obtain important documents for their partnership visa, documents needed to be obtained in person so he had the legal right to live in NZ. The documents have become more difficult to obtain due to COVID, and although they have been married over three years Immigration New Zealand is not allowing him to re-enter on the grounds that he does not have a residency here.

He has been twice denied entry since COVID-19 and the only advice from Immigration is to "complain" so that if enough complain they will look at changing the system.

This is our public complaint. Please support this couple and many others who will have even more distressing stories.

We all just want to hug their loved ones in a time of distress.
