James Barry and I fell in love 11 years ago. We met playing an online word game. We used to chat via messenger 10 hours a day. We knew we had something extraordinary and that we were soul mates. There was only one thing that was going to be a challenge-- I was in USA and he was in Australia.
We got married in 2007 and have been through all of lifes ups and downs together. We have 2 children together, Kira is 9 and Lily is almost 8. I also have a 13 year ld daughter from my previous marriage. For 4 years James lived in California with me but job opportunities were better for him here and he wasnt a permanent resident in USA so he moved back and saved for the girls and I to join him.
I moved to Australia with our 3 daughters in 2013. We had spent 2 long years apart but FINALLY we could establish a home and some stability for our family. We live in Joondanna and the kids are doing great in their schools. They have made lots of friends and they each have a pet. Amanda has a cat, Kira has a ferret and Lily and I have 2 greyhounds.
I applied for a partner visa and have been waiting on my permanent residency and a couple weeks ago it was refused . Minister's reason was "not in public interest" They told us there was nothing left for us to do, but we feel it's unfair. We are facing having our family separated if I have to go back with my 13 year old. James and our 2 daughters are citizens. They need both their parents. It's not in their best interest to uproot them from their home, their pets and everything they know. Please sign this petition and tell the dept of immigration that our family should stay here.
