Nina is a beautiful 6 year old little girl who's future is hanging in the balance. Life as she knows it could change very drastically. Nina risks being taken away from everything she has ever known, her home, her school, her dance, her church, and her friends. She also is at risk from being separated from her parents. Nina's parents (Carmen & Jorge Cardona) are from Colombia. They fled Colombia as their lives were in peril from a guerilla warfare group. Through a very difficult journey, they came to Canada almost 5 years ago. Nina was born in the U.S. before they made it to Canada. Without any family they started over again in Winnipeg, eventually building a stable new life with strong support system with ties to the community. Nina's parent's refugee status applications have thus far been denied. Carmen could be deported in as little as 2.5 weeks with Nina possibly accompanying her. In Colombia, Nina has no home, her parents have no jobs, they can't afford schooling, and she would no longer be able to pursue her dance education. There is also real cause for concern that the threat on their lives still exists from this guerilla group. Help keep NINA and her parents in Canada. Sign this petition!
