Immediate Resignation or Removal of Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg from Office
Rosemary Lehmberg holds both the position of District Attorney of Travis County and the head of the state's Public Integrity Unit
On April 12, 2013 a concerned citizen called 911 and reported Ms Lehmberg’s vehicle to authorities stating that the person is “incredibly intoxicated and swerving all over the place.” She originally denied drinking when questioned by officers but refused to complete the field sobriety testing and was taken into custody. An open bottle of vodka was discovered within reach on the front passenger seat. A search warrant was issued for blood analysis and her blood-alcohol concentration was .239 a full three hours after her arrest- almost three times the legal limit. She was combative and disrespectful with deputies and jailers and had to be restrained at the jail. She used intimidation and threats toward law enforcement personnel during the arrest and booking process in an attempt to influence treatment. She pled guilty to a Class A DWI w/open container and was sentenced to 45 days in jail and avoided probation and the mandated treatment and drug testing that often comes with probation.
Whether it's the chief of police, the sheriff, or the head prosecutor - their sole function in our community is public safety. Rosemary Lehmberg showed complete disregard and contempt for the rule of law and our law enforcement officers, weakened the integrity of felony prosecutions and embarrassed this community across the state. The citizens feel she is a liability and have lost confidence in her ability to make sound ethical legal decisions. Rosemary Lehmberg needs to resign immediately from the District Attorney position or be removed from office.
