Immediate Reinstatement of Larry Jordan as Milton High School Track & Field Coach

Immediate Reinstatement of Larry Jordan as Milton High School Track & Field Coach
The Issue
On Tuesday, September 20, Larry Jordan, widely loved and respected Head Coach of the Milton High School Track & Field Team, was unjustly relieved of his coaching duties. This came as a shock to the entire Milton High School community including students, parents as well as fellow coaches and teachers. We would like to ask for your support by signing this petition to request that Coach Jordan is immediately reinstated based on his genuine dedication to the student athletes and Track & Field families, his exemplary record as a devoted coach/teacher and his unwavering integrity and values displayed on a daily basis.
Larry Jordan has been a pillar for Milton Track & Field for the past 4+ years in addition to his role as a dedicated Special Education teacher at Milton High School. Students, parents, teachers and coaches all share tremendous respect for Coach Jordan who continually advocates for Milton HS Track & Field to receive the same treatment and equity as other Milton HS athletic teams. We believe it was this unwavering passion to fight for the Track & Field team that ultimately led to his dismissal as coach by the current Athletic Director. We ABSOLUTELY DO NOT believe this decision was made "carefully and with the interests of the students in mind".
We will not sit idly by while unjust decisions are made that will have negative effects on our student-athletes and the MHS Track & Field community. More importantly, Larry Jordan is a loyal, upstanding and devoted teacher, coach and parent who embodies the values that we hope to instill in our children. As a teacher, parent and coach Larry places the student athlete first and has a proven track record of success within the areas that matter most.
We must use our voice to right a wrong. We all are active and involved members of the MPS academic and athletic community and if we don't stand up against this unjust decision and fight for what is right and fight for Larry to be reinstated we all risk future unjust decisions that will continue to have serious ill effects on our student athletes. The inequalities between the various teams at MHS is grossly evident and there is a strong belief that the Track & Field team most fully embodies what we should aspire to....a diverse group of student athletes who also play various other sports at MHS but have joined Track & Field for the camaraderie, leadership, enjoyment and true community belonging. Not to mention the opportunity to strengthen their physical and mental well-being which translates to better performance in the classroom, at home and with their other sports activities. Larry Jordan has helped numerous student athletes overcome their behavioral hurdles literally and figuratively.
In addition to showing your support by signing this petition we encourage you to make your voice known by writing to Principal Cahill (kcahill@miltonps.org) and Superintendent Sheehan (jsheehan@miltonps.org).
Thank you for your support.
