Illinois: The Silver Tsunami Is Here, and We Need Your Help

A silver tsunami is upon the United States: Every eight seconds, someone turns 65. For Illinois, the silver tsunami is already here. We are not ready; we need your help.

I've watched my parents struggle to care for my elderly grandmother. They tried their best to juggle their careers and my brothers’ and my school schedules with providing care for our grandmother. When my grandmother fell, my parents were forced to make painful choices about admitting her to a nursing home. My family is not alone. Every day, families throughout Illinois are faced with similar decisions about how to live and age with dignity and independence. It's in honor of my grandma and my parents that I'm joining with a group of other Illinois locals to deliver a petition to Senator Kirk and Senator Durbin, asking them to call on Congress to create a care system that supports caregivers and makes quality long-term care affordable and accessible.

Will you join us in asking Illinois Senators to support Senate Res.128 which calls for the creation of a long-term care system?

Letter to
Sen. Richard Durbin IL
Sen. Mark Kirk IL
Every eight seconds, someone turns 65 in America. For Illinoisans, the silver tsunami is already here. There are over three million Illinoisans over the age of 65 who will need long-term care. We need a system of care that will meet the needs of both our rapidly aging population and the growing workforce that enables seniors to live and age with dignity in their own homes.

Please help to ensure that Illinoisans and all Americans will have access to affordable, quality long-term care by assuming a leadership role in supporting Senate Res.128.
