Carl Leming started this petition to Governor J.B. Pritzker and

Illinois should allow low income disabled people at any age to freeze their property tax assessment the same as senior citizens 65 years of age and over can do if they make under $65,000 a year. Also allow disabled people at any age to claim the senior homestead exemption in Illinois.

Senior citizens making up to $65,000 a year can freeze their property tax assessment. However disabled low-income people making $12,000 a year are not allowed to freeze their tax assessment.

low income disabled people take as much pride in property ownership as everyone else. It is much harder for them to maintain their home, pay their taxes, and homeowners insurance. All of these things rise in cost every year however their income very rarely rises. It's only fair that they are able to enjoy the same breaks as senior citizens. In my opinion any benefits for senior citizens 65 and over should be offered to all disabled people no matter their age.

I have contacted numerous senators and representatives in the state of Illinois and also have contacted two different governors and have gotten nowhere with this. If we can get enough signatures maybe they will listen.

Thanks for all your help and please share this as much as possible.
