Mikayla Moore started this petition to Illinois Governor

Hi, my name is Mikayla, I'm 14, and I was diagnosed with depression. Since then I've gotten help, and am feeling so much better. Unfortunately I didn't reach out until almost a year of suffering silently. I went through a period where I truly thought I was crazy because it was never talked about in school. It was simple, you go to school, laugh with friends, get homework done, and that was your life, you should be happy. But like 11%  of children and teens in the USA, it was an issue for me to even get out of bed. I'm not crazy. None of the people who suffer from depression and the hundreds of other mental illnesses are crazy. Its so disappointing that most schools ignore these problems instead of giving ways to cope and get help. My goal is to make sure our youth is made aware of how to manage when things get hard, of course as you get older the lessons get more in depth and appropriate for the age group. If I just let one person know that there is always hope no matter how rough it gets, my mission would be complete. If anyone who is suffering like I was is reading this just know you are not crazy, and you are loved.
