Illinois requires people in cars to wear a seatbelt when motorcycles are not required to wear helmets. 40% of the motorcycle deaths could have been prevented with wearing a helmet. The universal helmet law is a state law that requires helmet use for all riders, operators, and passengers no matter the age. I would like to see Illinois join the 47 states that already have laws about the safety of helmets, providing necessary protection for all motorcyclists.
