Bring John home

Bring John home
The punishment far outweighs the crime:
John L. Clifford is currently serving three years for a non-violent offense. John is an upstanding member of the community and is leaving behind a family who loves him and depends on him. John’s livelihood is in jeopardy due to his absence. John’s emotional and mental well-being, as well as his wife’s, their children's and grandchildren, are in a constant state of distress. John’s physical health is at risk as the country is in the middle of pandemic. This is a waste of our tax dollars and, most importantly, it is a violation of our basic human rights. The United States Constitution specifically prohibits cruel and unusual punishment. This punishment is most certainly unusual for the crime, and it is cruel as all those who love and care for John are suffering immensely. It is unjustifiable. We are all taught to speak up at times when we see injustice. This is one of those times.
Please sign this petition in support of reducing John’s sentence, allowing him to serve it from his home, or ideally, considering his time served and returning him home where he belongs so that he can continue to be a productive member of our community and a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Thank you.
