Illinois Screening for ALD- Blake’s Law
0 have signed. Let’s get to 10,000!
Blake was diagnosed at the age of 15 with Adrenoluekodystrophy, ALD for short. Currently there are only 5 states that test for ALD on their newborn screening panel. There is a baby born every 36 hours with ALD. There is no cure for this disease. If screened at birth the survival rate is much greater and doctors can stop the disease before it can progress. If Blake had been screened when he was born he would not be going through this horrific process of losing all his physical abilities and his eyesight. Illinois has had this on the table to sign for many years but has yet put it into affect. No child should, nor no parent should ever have to endure this kind of pain when a simple blood test that cost $2.50 could prevent the progression. Please help me get the bill signed so we can save our boys! Blake’s Law!!!!’
