Melissa Willis started this petition to iHerb.com and

Removal of unnecessary and harmful plastic buffers in iHerb boxes

The use of plastic pockets as a means of shock absorbency or protection serves no purpose or benefit in the safe delivery of products in iHerb boxes into Singapore.

Small, thin plastic pockets like these undoubtedly form part of the Microplastic crisis we are facing as a modern society.

Microplastics are the carrier or transport medium for toxic elements such as DDT and Hexachlorobenzene. Consumption of microplastics for a long period of time may change our human chromosomes and it may lead to infertility, obesity and even cause cancer.-https://www.sciencedirect.com

Microplastics can cause entanglement and ingestion by a range of marine organisms such as zooplankton, fish, seabirds, sea turtles, crustaceans, and mammals. - https://www.hilarispublisher.com/

Many brands affiliated with iHerb are trying to do their environmental best with eco packaging and biodegradable products.  Consumers alike carry a conscious attitude to health and wellness.

I would like to strongly urge iHerb to remove all buffer fillings in their boxes as they serve no purpose.  Microplastics are causing harm to our health by impacting the food we eat, the water we drink, and our environment (including all creatures great and small).  Please do NOT replace the plastic with polystyrene or anything else for that matter - it serves little purpose as most of the items sold on iHerb are non-breakables.
