Hunter Warner started this petition to THE PEOPLE OF AMERICA

Around 16 percent of federal convicts are locked up for a marijuana related charge. There are roughly 2.3 million incarcerated Americans in America right now. That’s 370,000 people locked up right now for trafficking marijuana. Assuming that the average cost per day to house an inmate is around 50 dollars. That’s 6.7 billion dollars of tax revenue being spent per year on housing people who sell you weed. Legalizing marijuana would not only free up taxpayer dollars and room in our prisons, but it would ensure that people are getting safe weed with no unknown additives that could be used to cut any type of cannabis that is sold on the streets. Many people die from using street bought black market cannabis oil cartridges that are cut with nasty oils. On top of that, the tax revenue that recreational pot brings is very substantial. Marijuana is no worse for you than alcohol and it would be safe to say that at least 1/3 of the population in American adults have purchased cannabis illegally. If pot were legal everywhere, many people in America could sleep better knowing that their cannabis is safe and pure.
