The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is an entity that is "committed to serve the most vulnerable people everywhere, now and in the future, regardless of their sexual orientation and gender identity, and based on need alone" (IFRC Twitter).

However, one of the IFRC's vice-presidents and the President of the Red Crescent Society of Turkey, Dr. Kerem Kınık, openly attacked LGBT+ individuals via a homophobic tweet that he posted on his official Twitter account. His statement in Turkish language read:

"We will not let you step on human dignity.

We will protect natality and the mental health of our children. We'll fight against those who violate healthy creation, replace abnormal with the normal using their communication power and impose their paedophiliac dreams cloaked as modernity to young minds.

No other way!"

We believe that Dr. Kınık's discriminatory views contradict the core values of the IFRC and the medical profession. Therefore, we demand his dismissal from the IFRC governing board.
