Petition Closed

Men and women who have been separated from their children through no fault of their own, who enjoy a meaningful relationship with their children are forced to pay child support for their children, but in order to retain visitation or partial custody of those children, the burden is on the parent whose paycheck is already suffering a strain due to the child support! As a result, that parent may be separated from his or her children for years at a time! Child support should not be automatically awarded to the mother, based on the assumption that she simply is the mother. Neither should the right of being the custodial parent. Each case should be assessed individually and both support and visitation should be addressed simultaneously.
