I’m signing because Common Core has created more stress for the kids and less personality for the teachers. The teachers aren’t able to teach how the want, they can only teach to a test. Teaching to a test doesn’t create a love of learning. And the students are having to worry needlessly about high stakes testing instead of developing a love of learning. When students and teachers enjoy learning/teaching, then more learning can take place. As it is, we are training robots that the majority won’t recall past a test because true learning isn’t actually taking place. PLUS when we moved across the country, one school district was in semester base while the other was on trimester. My highschool lost SIX credits because of having to move. We were told common core would allow nationwide learning so disruption of learning wouldn’t occur should a student need to move for whatever circumstance. If all schools aren’t on the same schedule, then there is no way to accomplish this. Not to mention the funding one school has over another. When similar classes aren’t able to be achieved because of poor funding in one area, then a credit can’t be transferred. There is so much wrong with our educational system, but for this petition, I am signing because Common Core has taken out the love of learning and has been a detriment to our students.

We need to return to Idaho values using objective and measurable means to establish the outline for education in Idaho. We don’t need progressive groups from outside the state to develop good solid apolitical curriculum.

I would like Common Core to be either revised or eliminated from Idaho’s education system. Although supporting and caring for all races and people should be the priority
of our society, the mantra of the BLM organization does not need to be placed in our schools.

Parental input into their child's education is and always has been, essential. Schooling does not only take place in the classroom, but for the majority of time, in the home. Cooperation and support makes the learning experience positive and successful.
