Stepparents' Rights

I believe stepparents who actively raise a child as their own should be given visitation rights if the biological parent and stepparent separate. The child has created a lasting bond with the stepparent and sometimes the stepparent is more active in the child's life than the biological parent. It is detrimental to the child to not only  have the disruption of their home but also to lose the relationship with their other parental figure. Taking the child from the stepparent is often a punishment by the biological parent but it has tremendous affect on the child as well. Also if their are other children whom belong to the stepparent they are losing a sibling and this is also damaging to them as well.
