My name is Alejandro Lopez Angeles (A#200-204-571) and I would like to tell you about myself and my family. I am 28 years old and I am from Veracruz, Mexico. I’ve been living in Concord NC since June 2005. I started my family in the United States when I got married in August 2009. My wife and I have a 6-year-old daughter Kaylee, a 3-year-old daughter Alyssa, and a 4-month old baby Joan. I am the head of my household. I work 7 days a week to support my family, to give them a better life.
In January of 2012, while I was driving through a neighborhood looking for a job site, I was stopped by a police officer. He said that someone in the neighborhood had seen us driving around and thought we were suspicious. I was then arrested for driving without a license. Though the officer had told my sister that he was going to let me go, he changed his mind and arrested me that morning. I spent 4 days in jail and was put into deportation proceedings. We hired an immigration attorney who never asked us to collect any evidence, or to gather any documents for our case. I was then forced to take Voluntary Departure so that I could have more time with my family. I was then granted a stay of removal, and have been able to stay with my family for the last 3 years. On May 25th, 2017, I have to check in again with ICE.
I believe that my case should be a low priority for deportation. I have no criminal history, I have three U.S. citizen children, my wife has been granted DACA, and I am not a danger to this country. Please stop my deportation and allow me to stay with my family.
