Allow Gay and Bisexual men to give blood in Ireland

I have given blood in the past and wanted to give again as we have a shortage of blood donations in this country. Unfortunately, I was rejected as I was faced with a discriminatory question on the Irish Blood Transfusion Service Eligibility Quiz which discriminates against Gay and Bisexual men from donating blood.
Question 25 on the Eligibility Quiz : 'For men only; in the past twelve months have you had oral or anal sex with another male, even if it was 'safer sex' using a condom or pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)?'
All blood is tested. 12 months is absolutely unnecessary and unnecessary! Perfectly healthy and vital blood donations are being rejected for irrational reasons!
Please sign to try and persuade IBTS to recondsider their rules and follow suit to at least lower the period of time to 3 months or to abolish this question.
Go raibh maith agat!
