Lighthouse Coalition Neighborhood Service Center's mission is to make a significant impact on the lives of unhoused people who already exist in the neighborhood by providing them dentistry, health care, barber services, food, clothes and wraparound services at a one-stop shop.

San Jose's assistance system of local agencies and non-profits is nearly impossible to navigate for unhoused people who cannot travel to various locations while still protecting their bodies, pets and belongings. Just traveling from one location to another could take most of the day via public transportation. 

This difficulty in attaining assistance prevents many unhoused people from even trying and that adds to more unhoused people on the street, more unhoused people on the street sick and dying. This is why having a one-stop shop where people can get a variety of assistance is so critical. 

Why this matters:

San Jose's unhoused population increased by at least 11% last year. Our food pantry can and will continue to expand to meet the need.

Nearly 20% of the 250 unhoused deaths last year were related to diabetes. We will have an insulin clinic and diabetic food boxes. This will save lives.

155 of the 250 unhoused deaths last year and 52% of the deaths this year have been seniors. We will have services specific to addressing the Silver Tsunami of unhoused people.

Opposing this project is opposing saving lives.
