Hi, My name Carlos Jenkins. I have been incarcerated since 07/12/2012. In 2012, I was young and made many mistakes, but being in here I had a lot time to think and reflect on my actions. Instead of getting into what I did to get in here, I will love to talk about everything I have accomplished while in here and what I am hoping to get back home too and also accomplish in the outside world. 

     Now, I can wholeheartedly admit I regret what I did to get in here and can honestly say it's not easy being here. Even if my body is locked up, I am not allowing my mind to be also. I started to put my head in the books and in school educating myself in multiple subjects, receiving certifications and degrees in these subjects.  I received a certificate in PCC Construction Occupations; Certificate of Academic Recognition and placement on the Dean's List in 2016; Certificate in Freedom from Fear and Transforming Incarcerated Dads with New life Corrections Ministry in 2017; Certificate of Transformation Foundation for life and Taking the lead in 2018 and 2019; Certificate in MoneyLife Personal Finance Study from Crown Financial Ministries in 2019; Certificate in High School Equivalency from Illinois Community college board in 2020; Certificate in Building Change Program from Illinois Department of Corrections in 2020. I'm very proud of my accomplishments but I'm really proud of myself for receiving my Associate Degree in Liberal Studies, and I'm not stopping there. When I come home, I will use everything I learned so far to better myself and my family Life.
