I love Florence
I love Florence
I'm Bernard, I am 22 years old and I love Florence.
Florence is the city where I am studying and where I learned the civil passion and the importance of solidarity. Today it's up to each of us to do something for Florence!
Florence is universally recognized as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and we take pride in caring for her and sharing her with millions of visitors. We know how many special memories are wrapped up in its streets and museums, and cultural legacy - from Dante and Boccaccio to Brunelleschi and Michelangelo - has enriched us all. And now humbly we ask for your help in tending to this beautiful jewel - to make sure that the economic crisis and collapse of tourism don’t bring about the degradation of the city and the gradual ruin of its historical treasures.
We call on the European Union, other governments, companies and people of goodwill to pull together resources that will allow us to save Florence and other art cities.
We have suffered - as has the rest of the world - from the tragic health crisis. We do not pretend that the preservation of a statue or an architectural marvel is worth more than the preservation of human life. But we also know that art and beauty are what make life worth living for many of us, Once the chain of care for our cultural heritage is broken, it can be very difficult to remedy the damage.
Millions of livelihoods in Italy are tied to the conservation of this world heritage, and to tending to the tourists who visit our beautiful cities. They need your help and support to get out of this crisis and to stand proud after the times that we have been through. Please join us in celebrating our beautiful city of Florence and all our art cities - and join us in calling for financial and moral support that we need to save them. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
