I believe that the Hutto community has a large demographic of kids and young adults who enjoy utilizing the courts provided in the city. Me personally, I would play basketball almost everyday if I could, and I know plenty of people in the community who would do the same thing. Playing basketball within the community has allowed me to meet and become friends with people who I had not known before. This has been one of the most fun things I’ve experienced while living in Hutto my entire life.

It’s more often than not that pickup games and workouts on the public courts are cut short due to the sun setting. Visibility and playability on the courts becomes impossible once it hits around 6:30 pm. A common wish that I hear almost every time I go play is that “I wish there was a court in Hutto that had lights.” Adding light to the courts could give all the basketball players in the community more opportunity to play. This would be more convenient than having to pay a monthly membership at the YMCA.

I understand that there may be concerns of people staying out too late due to the lighting on the court. However, I believe a simple curfew would solve this problem. All myself and the community are asking for is just more time to play basketball outdoors.
