The plant that caught on fire has caused many health problems for me and I am now concerned I may develop cancer. I ended up in the hospital two days after the fire after being exposed to that black smoke with extreme difficulty breathing, feeling like a belt was tied around my neck being tightened, pain from my ears down my left arm to my heart. It felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest feeling like a heart attack. Ended up in er where ct scan was done which showed pericarditis or inflammation around my heart and slight fluid under my lungs. I was so afraid I was dying I got my will wrote up at home I got my affairs in order told my kids when I die how to get my life insurance etc. I had to see a heart specialist who said it did not seem I had an issue with my heart so my symptoms were from smoke inhalation. Couple days later in the er I went again having difficulty and pain breathing. It felt like I was suffocating in fluid. It was like my red blood cells were wiped out and I see that exposure to these chemicals can cause anemia, leukemia, bone marrow problems, lung, kidney, liver, skin, breast cancers, difficulty breathing, headaches, cough, sore throats tiredness. In addition to multiple er visits for chest pain, lethargy and difficulty breathing I had developed emphysema symptoms, swollen lymph nodes and also had a rapid lump growing In my breast which I had to get breast testing done for. By the time I went for that they could not see it it had gone down. Multiple visits for severe chest pain, coughing, difficulty breathing, extreme tiredness, sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, swelling of my legs feet face hands abdomen. Clotting seemed to be going on in blood work but they could not find a cause. I have had hoarseness of voice on and off since.. Lungs hyperexpanded when it felt I was suffocating. My children have been injuring their bones which benzene can cause bone marrow issues and leukemia. I also had two instances of waking up to abrasions on my corneas, which leads me to believe this plant was releasing toxic chemicals before this fire happened. There should be a disclosure to residents letting them know the danger of living in this community. I would not have moved here knowing the risks to myself and my children! Now if I develop cancer or my children or all of us do no one cares.... We will pay the price.. Local attorneys won’t fight, out of state attorneys won’t fight, our community leaders act like that smoke wasn’t toxic!!!?? They failed to evacuate and educate us of the dangers. They failed to tell us to wash our bodies immediately. They failed to warn us of the dangers lurking in that plant. They don’t care our kids are playing in that soil and grass. They won’t mourn when our children or we die of cancer... No amount of money can replace a life, especially of someone we love..
